SHS'61 From: Maureen Sent: Sun 11/09/08 5:15 PM Hello Classmates, I hope you all have had a good 2008--and now that we have a new President, hopefully we'll all have a good 2009! In June, some of us met for lunch at the Claremont Country Club, and we all enjoyed it. Hopefully we will do that again on June 13, 2009 (thanks to Betty's "in" with management). Some of us also met for lunch when Stephen Noyes visited in July. Sadly, two classmates have died during this year: David Gallagher in May, and recently Charlene Stone Burke. Charlene battled brain cancer bravely for many years, but recently the cancer spread. She did not graduate with us ('62) but grew up as a classmate with many of us. On a better note, Dorothea Groth Fury's daughter was in Myanmar during their "troubles" this year, but was safe, and helped in recovery efforts. Dave Hale has set up a new/updated website--his work is great, as usual. Check it out: http://www.shs61.dbhale.com/ And you can also send me any news you have! Our 50th reunion will be in 2011. It seems a long way away, but you know how time goes! When we met in June, we actually were throwing around some ideas for our float. It's not too early to start planning, so send any ideas--or better yet, come to lunch next June! Also, my usual appeal for sending any money you might have, to go towards our (traditional) gift from the 50th class. We all know about the state of the economy. Any amount would help, so if you can send something, it would be appreciated. You can send donations to: Bob Stringer 146 Broad St. Claremont 03743 The following classmates are "missing". If you know anything about them, please let us know: John Breckenridge Elizabeth Merrill Charland (Betty, are you still on this email?)
